Music Discovery

I’ve done a poor job of keeping up with music in 2016. I place a lot of the blame on the death of Rdio (#riprdio), but I also just don’t dedicate much time to listening to music anymore. I remember discovering the likes of Damien Rice and We Are Scientists through Last.fm ten years ago. (I’m still using Last.fm, btw.) And while I didn’t have a whole lot of time for music during my undergrad, I always had ambient, downtempo, and instrumental hip-hop in the background while I studied. Nowadays, the only time I dedicate to listening to stuff is when I’m driving, and I have to split that time between music and podcasts.

One of the things I want to do in 2017 (don’t call it a resolution) is spend more time discovering new music and enjoying the tunes that I find… if for no other reason than to avoid becoming one of those “new music sucks” people.
